PILLAR III: AMERICANISM


The Legion's pillar of Americanism embodies its devotion to law and order, the raising of wholesome youth, an educated and law-abiding citizens.

US Flag Protocol

The American Legion Randolph Furey Post 170 educates youths on U.S. Flag etiquette to build patriotism and create respect for the flag. The Legion provides education materials that cover a range of topics such as the proper ways to fold, display and dispose of U.S. Flags.

October 2017 Randolph Furey Post 170 and Boys Scout Troop 253 attend Open House Event for over 350 students. Recruiting for Boys Scouts increased by 11 young men.

Boy Scouts of America

Our Boy Scout Troop 253 teaches important skills, build character and provide a healthy and wholesome outlet for young men. 

Randolph Furey supports Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts in Southern Maryland. Events include camping, fire control, merit badge awards, and survival skills training.

A few members of our Boys Scout Troop 253 in attendance at JC Parks Elementary. Our Troop has a diverse membership and ages vary. The goal this year is to lay the foundation for future relationship with our youth and their future.
